Van after about a year or so..

Post by Fox McIntyre »

So, after moving to Portsmouth about a year ago, I had to park the van up as it was costing too much. (travesty I hear you shout!)
But recently we decided it should make a comeback, so been busy getting the bodywork a bit straigter (those who remember it, it wasn't that bad anyway but there are a few problem areas now/still) and changing the look as its going to be a working van and plaything now. Changed things include the roofrack is gone to be replaced with a period set of Britax beacons (soon to be signwritten), no blue light on the front, just 2 red ones, lots of primer and seam sealer, new 70's front spotlamps, Brazillian hubcaps after I got fed up with rusty hubcaps and new headlamps..

That looks really smart mate. I love a good tin-top, and those wheels look great painted up. Glad to see another person rocking the factory wheels on a slammer!

Yea, matt red. Well, Oxide primer really. :)
Hubcaps were not really doing it for my so I sprayed my rusty battered babymoons red too. Not sure I like them 100% but I have some new chrome caps waiting in Bristol for me when I got that way anyway :)

Remember that primer is porus! It'll need sealing to prevent the metal underneath rusting. :ok

I know. There is still paint under it ;) Well, there is one bit that hasn't but it was a bodge with filler that I need to knock out, weld, paint then prime (sounds like the wrong order :P) but it can wait a wee while as yet as the metal is manky there anyway. I know its not an excuse to not repair it, but I only just got my welder and the weather is less than favourable :P
