2.1 Injection engine, want to get to 150 BHP.....

so what's the best way ? Is it achievable without replacing engine ? I'm thinking of junking the injection system and going carbs, cylinder head work, cam, exhaust. Has anyone done this ? I don't want an undriveable engine though, still has to drive like a normal van.

Your opinions and thoughts would be appreciated.

EJ25 should fit the bill and give you a little more.....165bhp possibly.

Sorry, you'll have to elaborate on 'EJ25'. Not sure what engine that is.

Thanks.

Subaru prefix ie ,,
EJ20 = 2.0
EJ 22 = 2.2 = 135bhp
EJ 25 = 2.5 = 165bhp
Not sure about 1.8 or 2.0. BHP figures are approx.

To change the cam the engine has to come apart, also to do headwork by the time its apart you may as well rebuild it, so that jumps the cost up again... factor in all that and the Scoobuy 2.2 or 2.5 makes a lot of sense..

But then you could just leave the engine alone and slap on some twin 40's (makes a nice difference) or low pressure turbo it... and hopw it holds together for long enough...

that pic of the turbo motor is a 1.9 and its only 105bhp!!! pretty simple setup...

BTW the above turbobus DG is 105kw which is somewhere around 150bhp.
The torque shames most dweezel things aswell. somewhere around the 200ft/lbs region.
:ok

Why ditch the injection?

Carbs are old skool
