My New T3...
I bought this on ebay for the bargain sum of £600! It's a 1990 Devon Conversion 'Bus', Twin Slider 1.6TD. The engine is cooked but it still has MOT & Tax until the end of October...
Here are some pics taken shortly after I collected it yesterday morning..

And here are some after a little TLC..

All I need to do now is find a decent 1.6 JX engine, if anyone has one for sale please let me know.
Thanks,
Dave

It was a Devon Conversion 'Bus', not camper...think it was an 11 seater at some point.
As for the spots of rust, I just sanded them down then treated them with kurust. Once that was dry I primed them with white high build primer. I've only done it to stop them from getting worse. It needs a proper paint job, and will be getting one once I decide on a colour.
There are a few more bits to sort first though..
Ride Height needs serious attention- at the moment it looks like a Syncro
Wheels...rusty steels aren't a good look.
Interior...cab's pretty much sorted, just need to decide on what to do inside. There's a rock 'n' roll bed, but it needs recovering.

Update:
Today I bought an AAZ donor vehicle- it's a '95 Passat 1.9TD CL Estate. It's a shame to break it 'cause it's a bloody good one! Nevermind!

Nice one.
Im doing exactly the same thing at the moment - jsut waiting for a few bits to arrive (silicon turbo hoses) and then i will be slapping the AAZ in the van.
Keep us updated (think i've seen you post on BY too).
The JX to AAZ conversion is far from straight forward i found (compared to a 1.7d to 1Y).
In the end i used the AAZ inlet manifold and the JX exhaust - but then i had to spend £50 on silicon! I dont know if i had an original JX inlet, but at one point of the mate to the block it had less than a millimeter of metal (so little i wasnt confident that it would be airtight).
Anyway, im looking forward to testing the new AAZ
Good luck...

Well don't put an oil temp gauge on it unless you want to frighten yourself
Serously, a good addition to these conversions is a 19 row oil cooler up front with 1/2" hoses to rear. Mocal or Serc ones on eBay are cheap at the moment, a glut, should be about 1/2 new price (£40~50 Vs £100) - peace of mind. I went for 3/4" BSP fittings and hoses which increases oil capacity to 7 litres, an additional benefit... oil still goes above 100C a bit but not 120/130 anymore! (don't get an un-marked chinese oil cooler)

That's a good speed and IMHO you definitely invested wisely there. BTW, what revs would that be in yours? My syncro twin-cab will go up to a genuine GPS timed 80 on the flat, think thats about 4400 rpm and 14 psi boost. 70 is 3860 rpm but starts putting oil temp up after that, even with a 19 row up front.
Still running in so cruising at 65~70 (10 psi) prob equiv to 70~75 for yours I'd imagine. Big charge-cooler next, to keep that performance when hot and high and for hill-climbing and long distance durability.
If you're thinking of going that route I'm putting a custom intercooler for a T25 2WD on eBay tomorrow night, so PM me if you're looking for one.

I made a point of looking this time! It's 3800 RPM and also a GPS speed of 120kmh, i'm running on an AAR box. Better get me an oil temp gauge tho Mr Mann, I also only have a a 19 row oil cooler though it is up front where they should be!!
Have only taken it to the top end once as I want to keep this engine and it topped out at around 150KMH, no idea what revs were got worried n backed right off!!
I made a point of fitting the oil cooler after reading lots bout AAZ'z on Byard n here especially poor Naylortribes tale.
It was built & fitted by Mad Matt @ Welshfalia in Newport and he was working on a deeper baffled sump which I was thinking of fittin one but I havent spoke to him about it for a while but I did think that would also help drop the temp down?
It sas standard JX pump etc but once suspension is sorted and the brakes uprated I may get it tweaked up a tad with a GTD pin and AAZ pump with & a larger bore exhaust tho if she's running near the limit anyway maybe i won't and will just wait for a subaru diesel boxer....

Would give you more reserve, buffer but temps would soon start increasing - I've 7 litres altogether now and all it does is slow down the initial impact of more power or revs (and thus heat), but only for a few minutes... unless you get surge on corners or braking, I wouldn't bother, but first you need to know what your oil temps are...
Either a GTD pump or almost any Peugeot pump with a proper LDA unit (proper Bosch job) would be better. You then have the pin, the starwheel and the LDA top setting screw to adjust boost fuel... and can modify the governors if you really want revs (with hand on heart!)
2 1/2" exhaust is good, into a 2 1/2" straight-thro absorption silencer...
What style of engine installation is it? JX 50 degree lean, with AAZ exh. manifold high turbo or JX low turbo?
Turbo is std AAZ? Garrett T2 or K14 ?
