Hello,

have a look at the alternative engine forum - lots of posts about tdis - it's not plug and play and a lot of folk prefer the mtdi as there's a load more electrics to deal with. Other problems are regearing the box for the tdi and then fabricating engine mounts and downpipe, sorting an intercooler etc...

From my understanding it's pretty much a win win situation with no particular draw backs.
The issues are in 'doing it right' getting the correct conversion parts and best engine/pump/turbo combination. The ones that don't work very well are a bastardisation of parts from different engines where innapropriate parts such as the diesel pump, have been used or adapted.
Stick to the tried and tested formula of engine parts/conversion parts and it's supposed to be an improvement all the way.
