Sumps for Diesel conversions

Post by fufflenarnia »

Hi All,

I am looking into converting from 1.9 DG to VW 1.9TD/TDI.

I seem to be able to get hold of engine mounting bars, bell housing etc pretty easilly, but the sump seems to be more difficuilt.

I have searched through almost 279 threads, but am strugling.

Is there an alternative to the diesel sump?

Thanks. :ok

You can use either a jx sump, or a n/a sump and modify with kit from brickwerks.

Best place is eBay.de

I bought a jx sump delivered for £86.

Ölwanne is a sump, Aluölwanne is an ally sump.

Öl = Oil
Wanne = Bath
VW T3 GTi Camper 2,0l

Try these people : http://www.partsemporium.co.uk/Type%202 ... 0Parts.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Last time i spoke to them, they had a n/a sump with a small crack that needs welding for £50, no bad eh ? :idea

You will see a pic of one of the sumps and bars etc, half way down the page of parts on offer at the moment.

If you have no joy with them Steve, drop me a PM, I have a n/a sump here that will need welding, but that I'd happily sell you for the price I paid for it's replacement :D

Now that's interesting, it would be good to know how it was done and if it is sound.

Ironically I need a diesel sump so I can fit a petrol engine! (I want to fit a GTI lump).

yes this is a car engine fitted to a diesel van.

mounts/ pipes ect all changed but the sump remains car!

unfortunatly its not a road worthy van as it would be interesting to thrash it and see if it will cope!
