AAZ 5 Speed Gearbox

Post by chappers »

Hi All

Recently fitted a 1.9TD AAZ engine conversion, runs really well but i need another gear!! Does anyone know if i can bolt an AAZ 5 speed box straight onto to the engine on my 1984 T25, i am assuming that the engine tp gearbox will be good but is there anything i need to know about the gearbox to chassis mounts?

cheers

Hey,

Sorry cant help you with the gearbox too much but I have had a lot of advice in my topic :-

http://forum.club8090.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=84609" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I am looking to swap my bust 1.7 engine for the AAZ but leaving the original APF 4 speed box in there for now
Have you any idea what gearbox you have?

Cheers

Andy

I believe it is a standard JX 4 speed box, AAZ definately a good investment though!

the first comment made after upgrading the engine!

you cannot use the original aaz box!

it fits only a car
totally different to a van , unless you cut the rear suspension out and fit the car setup

what you need is a 4 speed dk(2.0 Aircooled) or 5 speed AAP(2.1 petrol) code box.

afterwhich you need a gearbox specially rebuilt.

you need to first get the code from the box you have so you know where you are.

i am only in gloucester so could pop over and check for you?

Cant remember the code of my box but its the original 5 speed JX box (3H maybe?).

Anyway, i changed the profile of the rear tyres to 10% larger diameter - this has made the gearing a lot nicer.
