AAZ starter won't engage

Post by skell »

Just refitted my AAZ. Starter isn't meshing with flywheel. I've done direct feed from battery +ve to solenoid. Solenoid moving but sounds like starter gear is hitting flywheel.

Anyone ever had this problem?
Next step is slacken off bellhousing bolts and jack up gearbox a bit to try and lift starter slightly higher. Anyone got any other ideas?

thanks

which flywheel did you use? not sure about the AAZ one but might not fit, use the JX . Also try the starter on a battery to see if it engages put it on the ground and check with jump leads make sure you have your foot on it as they have quite a kick!!

sorted
starter was ok
loosened the engine to bellhousing bolts, wiggled it all about until starter engaged then nipped them all back up starting with the two at the top holding the starter.
