Fitting oil temp gauge to an AAZ
Right, i have finally managed to get a VDO gauge for sensible money from the Bay'o'fleas and was wondering the best place to put a sensor on the engine. I will be getting an oil cooler later in the year but for now i just want to see how hot the oil is getting before i splash out on the cooler.

Re: Fitting oil temp gauge to an AAZ
you could use a T piece Jed or even a multi joint so you could add a pressure sensor
We were discussing them on the Lt part of BY

Nice one Mark
I like the idea of the multi one, do you reckon it will give an accurate reading?

I have the AAZ oil filter housing and it had a blanking off plate which i unbolted and fitted the pressure sensor into. Has yours got a blanked plate?

I took Ringos advice and it seems to work and a right peace'o'pi$$ to get to. Took the blanking plug out fitted an oil temp sender then connected it all up.

Re: Fitting oil temp gauge to an AAZ
did you do a calibration on it... stuck the sensor in some boiling water to see if the gauge reads about 100deg? worth doing so you know if what its saying is real..

Re: Fitting oil temp gauge to an AAZ
I am hoping the AAZ oil temp sender is wrong for the vdo gauge lets put it that way as round town driving reads 130*C Just ordered the right vdo sender so it will be an interesting comparison. Otherwise i will be handing over to SB another 300 quid abit earlier than i would have liked for an oil cooler.

I trust the measurement was done at mean sea level.

Hi Jed
After all the above can you advise on the correct sender and vdo gauge combination? just stuck a new lump in mine, don't want to cook it.
