How often should i change my plugs

1.9DG running on lpg the majority of the time apart from starting on petrol in winter. I have done around 4,000 miles since the plugs were last changed 12 months ago.

Its running fine but what i wanted to know was:
when should I change them? or do i need to clean them or just leave them?

Thanks

On my 4,000 service I fit a set of cleaned and re-gapped single electrode plugs. Saving the other set and preparing them for next time. I get a new set of 4 every other year.

Ian.

oh pooh. Just done two vans and gapped them as per haynes....

is that the same for the 2.1 on LPG 99.9% of the time. We gapped them to .7 or .8. Looks like we was wrong.

Just out of interest, what happens if the gap is too big/too small...how would it affect the running of the van?

You are industrious Em! From memory of my boy-racer days (it's been a while) bigger gap = higher resistance = bigger spark but only if the coil/leads/LT supply/earths will stand it. If they won't then you'll get misfires or poor economy due to unburnt fuel.
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong...
Still running in the gas system on the SA but loving the cheap pump :D
