I Have spocken to Steve from Gasure, I now need to decide where to put the tank. I guess its a trade off between keeping your storage or going for fuel capacity . What do you guys think has suited you best? Any advise would be great.

Under rear seat is where my lives
Its a 72L

Hold about 56L with a range of around 230 miles (ish)

but I refill at 180 miles (ish)

Under the rear seat is a normal place, The Gasure spare wheel tank is another, And in the cupboard or in place of the cupboard in the boot is the other place.

Bear in mind the maximum size of tank if you go for the cupboard or under seat options (hinges etc under seat getting in the way...)

Rear corner cupboard - spare wheel shaped 55 litre LPG tank. Never used that cupboard anyway - and there is still usable space in there above the tank for spare oil, coolant etc.

I find the underseat cupboard FAR too useful to lose. Lat week I think we had 16 pairs of shoes/boots etc in there. - Cut a hatch into the front of it so you can access without removing the baby seats!

I know you didn't ask but.......If a camper - DO go with the leisure tank option Steve offers - this is the best thing we did I reckon as we never have to go looking for gas cylinders and gain a storage cupboard.

Thanks for your replies guys. My van has the bay west falia continental interior so is a bit differnt, but could use the bunk. Micky9 what range do you get out of your 55l spare wheel tank. Im thinking of putting the tank where the spare wheel goes but am worried about the size of the tank and its range.

what engine do you have?

Example below

Engine gives 5MPL
tank holds 80% so 44L

44x5=220mils

but if you get 4mpl you get 176 miles

figure on more like 4mpl = 18.3mpg at 65mph. Just back from Bashtie... got 17mpg on way down at 70mph. Best ever was in France 23mpg at 40-50mph flat land leisure driving. Have 80litre round tank (65litre of gas) in wardrobe.. just fits.

Yeh i've got the 1.9dg which I recon im getting around 23mpg but have not done an accurate test.
Does anyone know of a good website to find reliable info on the locatation of lpg filling station around the uk as well.

Does Gasure still do the donut tanks that go in the rear wardrobe? I'm sure Steve said the valve manufacturer had gone bust the last time I saw him....or something to that effect

We get 20mpg - almost consistently. This results in 185 - 210 miles between fillups.
On a run 210 is my best - commuting (15 miles each way) 185 is my lowest.

This is for a 1.9 - and full camping interior - and a hi top. Take either or both of these away - i would expect more.

On petrol - I was getting perhaps ave 22ish - but I ran so little on petrol - and have rarely uses the stuff in three years since conversion!!

Heavy, fully loaded camper 2.1DJ using a DG carb 65 litre terroidal (upright) tank holds 50-52 litres returning 180 miles per tank or nearer 200 on a steady 65 motorway run. 18mpg = 36ish £ for £ equivalent to fool's gold/diesel.

I looked at the Stako site and a few other suppliers yesterday, they all list the vertical donut tanks as stock items
I'm wondering if it is possible to fit a second, transverse torpedo tank under the engine deck, in the void over the gearbox. Been suggested before, maybe? A little more effort to install and no good for syncros...can't comment on what the regs would say, but if it clears and isn't near a heat source, should be ok?

would be a really small tank as the starter motor is in the way in that area - syncro's have shaped tanks that fill the void and go around things like starters...

Well I looked and while I thought the idea was ok for watercooled 2wd vans, I forgot where the wbx/scooby starter is I'm looking to hide a second 240mm diameter tank up to around 1000mm long, but have a particular problem unique to SA's...unless diesels use this part too?
The reinforcing strut that runs from the top of the trans. casing up to the block and prevents the SA bellhousing from flexing/cracking with the weight of the 5 cylinder engine gets right in the way.
Maybe I should put this up in engine swaps too...
