MOT and running on LPG

Whats the crack here. My friendly local MOT chap isnt to sure himself...he just switches it over to petrol and tests the emissions on petrol..
Is this right?? why cant they do emissions tests running on gas ???

I believe they have to test it on what it is running on at the time of test
if you drive it in on gas thats what it should be tested on

wonder how your man would get on testing my van, there hasnt been any petrol in the tank since 2004 and it hasnt even got a petrol pump since i lent it to someone when theirs packed up on the side of the road.....like to see him switch mine over to petrol!!

my MOT man doesn't know how to change his machine for testing on lpg?

by rights it should be tested on whatever you run it on.

How do you fancy a triumph 2000 with a stag dash tax exempt
has'nt been run in at least 10 years body looks good
the chap wants it to go to an enthuziast (sorry about the spellin)
its sat in a garage most of that 10 years aswell

Mines been tested on lpg both times, but the mot certificate always says petrol...

I was told "Whichever you drive in on we test on" at my local MoT place

Anyone checked if there is a national policy on this ?

By rights, if he doesn't know how to change his machine, should he really be testing anything as I'd be ruddy worried if an inspector looking at my van didn't know his gear????

mine even stopped me changing back to gas ....hre turned off the secret switch :evil: (sure some one will come along with correct name)

when I took the van in (1990 syncro petrol/lpg panel van) he did not test it for emissions as he said it was pre 1992
wonder where I will be going for my mot next year

LIS the man who tests my vehicles has been doing MOT's for 30 + years i think he know his job. but as had never had to change to test LPG i wouldn't expect him to Know.


Tony the triumph 2000 dash and the stag are nearly the same.

how much is the car? i'm not interested but i may know people that are.
