I would check for a leak in the system. This used to happen to me on my old van and it was a bad connection on the pipe from the filler to the tank. The amount you can get in varies slightly according to temperature but not as much as you got in.

why did you keep you hand on the button when you knew you were over capacity?

once the pump slows to a almost stop all you are doing is paying for something you havent got.

if the dispensing pump is set at a higher pressure than it should be it can force more in than 80% that your valve cuts off at, thats what is happening when the "farting" noise happens, stop when it get there..........

When LPG is heated it expands very rapidly. In order to allow for expansion LPG cylinders and tanks are only filled by volume to 87%.

Hi , its a safty margin they quote at 80% my Mercedes has a 100Litre tank and the most I've been able to get in is 76 litres , like mentioned some forcourt pumps struggle to get over 50l while others will keep going , I've never had a refill were the safty valves will blow but you will know when they do as the gas will be expeled through safty overflow pipe onto the floor ,

Just been converted so new to filling up.

So when the pump starts to rapidly slow down then I should take my hand off the button? I've filled up about 5 times so far, but only once has the pump clicked off when full. Tho everytime after a while the flow really slows down, to a stand still and I keptmy hand on the button until I got bored of waiting!

Yeah it doesn't click off as such like a normal petrol pump. Keep your eye on the price or litre reading on the pump and it will slow then stop when the tank is full.
