Capacity

Post by illzlee »

Just a thought, has anyone got any more tanks than say a 60l cylinder? i don't really need more, but i was chatting to a guy at the pumps last week, he had 5 100L tanks in his yank tank winnebago thing! Derby was the first time he had filled up since monaco

he had to keep going in and paying every 100L 'cos the pump shut off :rofl

We do tanks up to 260ltrs but hey where are you going to fit that, I put one in a long wheel base T4 once for a builder who filled it once every 6 weeks when lpg was 35p/l saved him a fortune, you can have up to 4 tanks on any one system so for instance those that just cannot find space for the 70ltr tank which is the most common, have a spare wheel tank and custom mount for the wheel on the back and a 35ltr small tank buried in a cupboard out of the way, we fit 100ltr tanks to working panel vans to give them a nice range. Our bug bear at the moment is the demise of the vertical tank, I have a few left but only in large 80 and 88ltr capacitiies. You have to remember that people use these for their leisure and taking up space is sometimes a premium and no you cannot fit them underneath, the T25 has a sill height of 425mm, smallest tank diameter is 200mm, supension travel is 65mm so road clearance is 160mm, the standard requires a minimum 200mm, the only time we get away with this is the spare wheel tank, if you look at a lot of BMW and Mercs the floor pan is a lot closer to the road than 200mm, but the tank is on the other side of the belly.

Does this mean the doughnut ones are legal anymore? Why?
Will we have to change ours?

Interesting.

No, not illegal, the valve manufacturer went out of business so Stako stooped producing them, we are in touch with AZB and Irene tanks who look as though they may take up the market in the new year.

aha, so a larger tank is fitted practicably to a panel van.
I'm teetering on the edge of an svx conversion to mine and seem to empty a 70L tank quickly enough with a dg! might well be looking for a 100L tank in the new year then... 8)
