tickover twister
since fitting the new engine.
On gas the van ticks over nicely at 900rpm, putting it on petrol and it won't tickover.
when I adjust the idle speed on petrol it ticks over fine, back on gas and tickover speed is 1400rpm.
idle speed cut off valve for petrol is working, as when disconnected it stalls
how can I ajust the idle speed of one without compramising the other?

Re: tickover twister
IIRC there's a tickover screw on the vapouriser unit .... I've never messed with this though and would strongly advise you to speak to Steve first

kev it isn't a bit rich at idle on petrol is it? that may make it bog down and stall at low revs. i'd be tempted to try adjusting the idle mixture screw and see if that helped. you can always put it back if not (or chuck yer spanners away)

Re: tickover twister
I had just set that mixture screw to 2% CO (on gas)
I suppose that's the only tickover adjuster?

Re: tickover twister
kev,
when my pair go to elite for their tune up and servincing, the vans are run on petrol, the tick over and gasses set first. When running ok, they switch it to gas. As Ian says, there is an idle control on the vapouriser unit.

That is a 10mm brass nut facing towards the front and in towards the engine a bit ( I know a pic would help !! )
One can usually turn it by hand.
It is easy to adjust, the revs go up and down predictably as you turn it.
Half a turn makes a noticeable change in tick over revs.
Make a note of how much you turn it if you wish, so you can put it back where it was.
I would get the tickover right on petrol, then adjust the gas.

Re: tickover twister
You know sometimes you guys deserve all you let yoursleves in for by fiddling around with these systems, the top nut is closed for this type of system and should not be opened, you take the consequences if you do, it will completely screw up any calibration on the vaporisor and let far too much gas into the system thus causing very erratic running problems and uses lots of lpg, it is used on some of the V8 conversions to allow gas in at the higher end, we have a specialist meter that we use on road test to set this screw, it is the only way.
