It's a different blend of gas, I find Shell/Calor Autogas is always the best.

If its "pinking" then the ignition is far too advanced... or the mixture is very weak... not good in either case... what have you got the timing set too? Oh and what engine??? (location in your profile would be handy too   )

shell is deffo the best LPG, followed very closely by BP (but BP are mostly greedy prices) stay away from the MOrrisons and Jet places, it may be cheaper at the pump, but its not by the time youve only gone half as far on a tank....

just be thankfull tesco dont do gas....... that really would be crap

Would LPG quality affect MPG.. say over 100 miles you would use 2 to 3 mpg more?

2 or three mpg on a 100 mile trip could easily be different quality gas, it could also be head wind, tootling over 70mph, leaving it ticking over while piddling about with engine, or indeed towing a trailer.

Sorry to bang on with this on your thread.

But I have some startling fuel info.
I filled up at carvers offering 42p/lit travelled 90 miles and it took 27 L of gas
turned out 15 MPG
power valves set at 1/2 turn out from rev dip at 2500rpm

Filled up at BP, reset the power valves to engine revs dipping at 2500rpm.. then 1/8th further out.suggested 1/4 by Steve at Gasure.. but I'm a tight wad!

return trip.. Same 90 miles took 16 litres .
A full 10 L less.
which is a full 24 MPG

shock is the word
Some loss of power but... nothing to moan about

(thanks Mocki for the advice at short notice)

I am convinced the BP fuel, is a contributor to better MPG.

Thats shocking Kev!

I've only filled up at morrisons before, I'll be thinking twice next time and heading to BP or Shell next time.

I think that much difference is probably due to the pumps cutting off at different pressures, never seen any change in performance really. To really see what the MPG is you have to average over lots of runs, or empty it, fill up and run until empty to see how far you can get.
