Petrol has dropped but not LPG??
Hello
I've noticed that petrol at my nearest Morrisons has dropped from £1.11 to 97.9p...
yet the LPG has stayed at 58.9p
I wonder if price of LPG will drop along with other fuels????

Its dropped here last week, ASDA is now 48p and Shell is now 50p, you need to have a go at them and stop moaning on here, they don't read it, quote the EEC directive that states clearly that LPG must be at least 50% of petrol.
Wouldn't it be nice to put a post up saying "I've just had a go at Morrisons and they've dropped the price of LPG"

It used to be on loads of LPG sites, I'll have to go and search my paperwork for it, found these that relate but they seem to be old data.

My apologies if I'm being stoopid here but I've studied the above links and I've been googling and googling and googling some more and I'm still unable to locate a European directive that I could cite when expressing my annoyance at the lack of downward movement in lpg prices, when handing over me hard earned after filling up.
Yes it's still very cheap compared to petrol, but in the current climate I need to save a few pennies wherever I can.
Has anybody found the directive yet? There sure are a lot of EU directives!

OK perspective, bulk LPG is 54p per litre, (road gas with duty, domestic gas is an awful lot cheaper) so if you are paying that then is is break even, anything less like ASDA they are making a loss but getting the custom, anything over then you are being ripped off for profit.

Yes Lloyd it would be nice, it came out in around 2005 and I'm sure in all of my paper work I've got a copy I'll keep looking and it used to be on many many websites, now if its been withdrawn or amended I have no knowledge of that, but please be assured it does exist somewhere or it did exist, like most other benficial directives they seem to be shelved conveniently and the more inane ones tend to take precident, I'll keep searching for it as I'm sure many other s now will.

I e-mailed UKLPG through www.drivelpg.co.uk the independent consumer guide to LPG autogas in the UK, and asked him if he knew of any directive but he didn't mention it in his reply, but htis is what he wrote:-
Hello Kathy
Thank you for your enquiry
There are a number of issues to bear in mind:
There are different global markets for LPG and oil and there is not a direct link between the raw material price of these fuels. Thus LPG prices will move at different times and by different amounts to oil.
LPG prices at the pumps have never been as volatile as petrol / diesel. This is because the autogas market is only 12% of the LPG market in the UK which in the main is influenced by more stable gas and electricity prices. Therefore gas supply companies even out the price - sometimes making and sometimes losing. Their pricing is there own commercial decision
Over the years autogas has averaged around half the price of petrol and diesel at the pumps and this has been sufficient to sustain the market. At times it has been below half price and at times it has been above (as now)
Because of the increase in fuel prices, the 40% reduction in fuel costs is actually worth a lot more in £'s than it was a year ago, so even if under 40% it is still saving the LPG motorist more money than last year.
There is a wide variation in regional LPG prices, as there is for petrol / diesel. www.petrol prices.com gives national average figures. At the end of last week theses were:
Avg.
Min.
Max.
Unleaded:
105.2p
99.9p
121.9p
Diesel:
116.7p
109.9p
134.9p
LRP:
110.9p
106.9p
118.9p
Super:
112.6p
102.9p
129.9p
LPG:
57.5p
49.9p
63.9p
I hope that the above gives you a clearer picture of things and that LPG will continue to provide you with chaep and greener motoring
