lpg-stalling problems ?
Hi,recently had lpg con to van(DG)by OZONE in plymouth.Had teething probs with stalling..they elliminated the stalling by making system richer(a quick fix while passing) which in turn sent the emmisions/consumption through the roof.Took it back yest cos of bad consump and they re-tuned to get emmisions down to where they should be but again as they even agree themselves its still poss 4 engine 2 stall ( when van worked hard then brake to a junction)this is after ive braked so no probs with stopping. Can anyone tell me if they have experienced same probs or cause as OZONE are basicly saying this single point system is a very primative system and wont work as good as a muti point system. If any of you guys have any suggestions(serious that is!)i will be paying them another visit..cheers

Single point may be 'primitive' compared to modern fuel injection and Engine management systems but if it's set up and installed correctly then you should have no problems with stalling and your van should drive just as reliably as if it were on petrol. How does it drive on petrol? You can get a 'Ram air' effect (which causes stalling when slowing and braking) if the air intake is left in place. Most of us on here do not have the air box in situ and air is drawn directly from the air filter housing.

mine has all the original equipment and runs sweet, dont see any need to have anything taken off, have you checked for air leaks etc and as mentioned what is it like on petrol?AngeloEvs wrote:Single point may be 'primitive' compared to modern fuel injection and Engine management systems but if it's set up and installed correctly then you should have no problems with stalling and your van should drive just as reliably as if it were on petrol. Thanks Mocki / AngeloEvs 4 replies..Mocki the system is Landirenzo and adjusted by the srew mentioned,it idles approx 800rpm.AngeloEvs,it runs extremely well on gas..smoother and seems quieter with same performance.Interesting what you mention about air box and run straight from filter housing,i will try that tomorrow..i suppose you connect a piece of flexi tubing from filter to underneath to draw in the air instead?..cheers

you do realise you can "up" the "tickover" by using the idle screw on the carb dont you ? - without the need to alter the LPG settings. If it is a new installation, you may have these problems in the "runnning period" untiull the system has settled, so Whilst this isnt a fix to your problem, it may make you life a little easier in the short term. You should be going back to the installer when you have covered 1000, -1500 miles so it can be re set up

Some will have their air intake pipe from the inlet to the airfilterbox disconnected, because the RAM effect, when the air is forcing into the airintake and weakening the LPg mixture causing the engine to stop whilst at low revs.
This only seems to happen on mine when the wind is blowing strongly in the drivers side vent (air intake) and is know locally as "the pilot light went out syndrome!"
