We have done some research along with the R&D at OMVL into the diesel conversions and managed to expire severely around a dozen modern diesel engines trying to make a solution work. The problem with small diesels is that they do not have the capacity to retard the pump enough to get a good charge of lpg into the cylinder, most of the modern diesel units are controlled by an ecu. We have however had a lot of success with the larger 12 ltr plus engines in trucks, these are very basic motors and we can retard the pump to run them on both fuels, yes both fuels, to ignite the gas you need a spark, no spark in a diesel so the gas is ignited by the explosion of the diesel oil giving an effective post detination or secondary implosion, in enabling the retardation of the pump this post detination is useful in burning the oil/gas mixture more effectively, so much so that 25 of a well known haulier's trucks now have savings of around 15% on their fuel bills and if you consider that each truck consumes around £25,000 (£25k) in fuel a year thats a nice saving.
There is a company that boasts in having converted a lot of small diesels but unfortunately I've heard that they are having problems, so hopefully this has given you an insight into your question, and no we do not convert diesels nor are we doing anymore research into this.
