Adjustig gas flow + filling capacity + non-LPG fuel

Post by stevewright76 »

Just bought Type 25 camper from sheffield that was converted by Gasure back in 2004. (1982, 2L air cooled, high-top camper conversion)

OMVL system, 66 litre Torroidal Tank (from Wiki description this is Open-Loop system).

3 q's:

  • You can adjust gas flow - was kinda shown but didn't really take in and not v. well documented, how/when/why do this?

From cut out of LPG (i.e. empty) I have only ever been able t fill with 56 litres of LPG, not 66 - is this normal/OK/typical?

What unleaded fuel shold I run with the system when LPG is out? Super-unleaded, normal unleaded or use a fuel supplement wth either?

LOVING LPG tough - makes running a van cheaper than my old Polo :D

You should only ever be able to fill an LPG tank to some percentage that's not 100, but escapes me just now.....yours sounds about the same as ours have been..... :D

No supplement needed with unleaded....... :D

Additives

Post by stevewright76 »

Chees for info guys - figured no additives were needed as used to run a 76 bus on unleaded OK, however what do they do/help with? Have some spare Lead replacement supplement from my polo (RIP) so figured i may as well use while have it...

So normal LPG OK - or super unleaded (saw thing in Wiki about sparkplug settings hence question)

Smellies?

Post by stevewright76 »

Hmmm - smellies? Bought it from Mary in Sheffield who bought it off her neighbour who loved it (quite evidently given the amazing condition it's in :-) and it's going v. well and has a definite loving new owner - best history/documentation I've ever seen, only pain has been dodgy steering wheel botch replacement (another thread on that) which is now replaced with upside-down original...

Obviously a well-known van though!

Looking to put bed in upstairs and windows in too over summer - any tips on insulating a high top roof appreciated!

I can tell - it's got NO rust! Well - a speck where it was scratched and a dot on the bumper but really really solid - I'm about to try and treat those and keep it in good nick - any tips on keeping the wax oil going to maintain condition?

I definately owe Mark thanks on it - other owners are moving to Spain so fell into my hands and didn't need a second look! Used to have a 76 bay which i loved but sold to move to Mexico, wanted air-cooled and good condition and this one's a gem...

Still lacks a name though - but I'm def a loving owner.
