May not work, but a TINY dab of good superglue (fixall) is the best type) on end of broken bit, inserted, wait and see if she pulls out? Otherwise can be a prob if you can't lever it out somehow.

a smal pair of tweezers may grab it......

thanks for the quick replies. yeah it had turned. have now dismantled the steering column and have the barrel off. cant even see the bit thats broken off. not a happy bunny right now. if anybody is coming to dubfreeze from the south and heading up the a34 to stafford and has a new barrel and key i would gladly come and meet them

if it's turned then can you use a screwdriver to crank it?

after hitting it with a big hammer and lots of swearing it looks like the rouge piece has dropped into the position it should be in. Have put the steering column back together and now the key will go in and turn and she's running at the mo. Just hope after i switch her off I will be able to replicate the results, fingers crossed, might get to dubfreeze after all...top of the shopping list......ignition barrel and key grrrrrrrrrrr

Just got back. Filled up with diesel, no problem starting her with the dodgy key, went and got essentials for overnight stuff from shops, got back no problem starting. Looks like dubfreeze is on.
Thanks for the quick responses peeps
Very much appreciated.
