Post by donnieg »

Hi i am looking to buy a set of car ramps to make it easier to work under my van and was wondering if 2ton ones would be ok or should i go for ones that will take more weight.

Wouldn't axle stands be cheaper?

Are you looking at 2 post or 4?
Personally I don't like using the smallest 2 post lifts with anything other than small cars.
Its not just the ability off the lift to pick the vehicle up that concerns me, but some of them at that rating are so spindley they rock about if you start having to put any effort into pulling stuff of the vehicle.
Your camper won't be that far away from 2 tonnes when its unloaded and loaded will be more than 2.
I would look for something bigger from the start if it were me.

E D I T
Sorry I completely misunderstood I think I had a picture of that garage in my mind and thought you were thinking of putting a lift in.
Now I read again I see you mean ramps not a lift.

Mike
