Below the battery

Post by davidharvey »

Took the battery out from below the drivers seat today and it was very solid, but brown with surface rust. When it gets warmer the plan is to paint it with rust remover, then hammerite. The question is though, do I just put the battery in? What about those battery mats you get? or a carpet tile, bit of rubber, laminate flooring or any other suggestions? (not silly ones obviously)

The battery mats are the best alternative. They have an addative in them to neutralise the acid that may collect down there. Carpet or carpet tiles etc. will just fall apart!
