My Daughter's Bug

Post by Devon81 »

My daughter has just bought a 74 1303 Beetle, ran fine for the 1st 2 weeks, then started cutting out when idling, all the leads, dizzy cap and rotor arm etc seem to have been replaced, i bought a carb rebuild kit for it (solex 31 pict-3)seemd to sort it out, for about an hour!!, then it started cutting out again, it seems to be intermitant, also sometimes when you turn the ignition on, the indicator relay starts clicking and the ignition light glows on and off, my daughter said that it only seens to cut out when this is happening, i bought another relay, but when i put it in it made a buzzing noise so i took it out and fitted the original vw relay back in.
Has anyone got any ideas please as this is starting to drive me up the wall .

any advise greatly appreciated
