Ok.. watercooled flat 4, petrol? year?
UK van or imported (ie left hand drive)
What does the engine number on the reg doc say (will start with 2 letters)

Keeping it simple..
watercooled petrols flat 4's were either 1.9 (1915cc) and 2.1 (2109cc) NO 2.0L.....
All 2.1's were injected, 2 main flavours DJ and MV in the uk and Europe, MV only in USA..

1.9's normally carburettor, but USA got injected 1.9's up until 1985..... the odd european injected 1.9 but not common..

Pic in the link toolsntat has posted shows where the engine number will be (but thats a 1.9 carburettor engine so looks a little different..).. looking though the numberplate flap its just below and to the left of the alternator at the base of the crankcase breather tower..
