Halfords pricing RANT !!!!

Post by Fritz »

I was shocked to find my father-in law had paid £9 for a single filament H7 Halogen headlamp bulb,,,,,only later to find he should have got 2 for that price....

Fast forward to yesterday afternoon where I visit my very local Halfords which is a brand new store not exactly easy to spot to passing traffic and needless to say doesn't do much trade as far as I can see. I'm after a common or garden stop/ tail bulb,,,,,,,,,,,,,, They only want 2 pounds 29 Effing pence for one pre packed buld in a blister pack FFS £2.29 for one......

As you can imagine I walked away....................... :(

Regards

Why oh why do folk use halfwits, its like toysrus, full of overpriced carp.
There are hundreds of motor factors, parts shops etc that deal with generic parts and loads cheaper than them

£2.29 is for a twin pack from Halfords, my local parts shop is £1.25 per bulb, can't see the problem.

If you have a trade card is a whole different shop! prices much more reasonable, plus there may be loads of factors about where you live but none close to me without going right over other side of town!

If you get a cheaper price that halfords they will price match!

I think the reason is the same reason that people use super markets and not the local shops; open after 5:00pm and on the weekends and sundays too. When I'm home I do try and use my local motor factors as much as possible but sometimes he doesn't open on a saturday and he opens in the week 9 till 5, and sometimes you just can't get there before closing.

To be honest I was only testing the water with this establishment I would normally use an independant motor factors who I have used for the past 30 years.

In the end I got one from my local MOT testing station for 50p BUT then found out the bulb I really wanted was a single filament Flasher type bulb..... :?

My local place does stop and tail for about 40p so £2.29 is a problem to me. Its ridiculous. Mind ou i went to halfrauds the other day and there was a bloke who bought a bulb for his audi Q7. "Would you like it fitting sir" they asked the customer he said "yes" they said "that will be 5 pound." the mechanic came out took the bulb out to the car and then came back in 10 mins later (they are slow at our halfords) and said they couldnt fit it as they dont know how to get the bulb out. o how i laughed. :rofl :rofl
