UK/Eu is a Frequency modulated band ie FM that is legal to use on your CB set.But AM amplitude modulation transmitted on the same frequencies on the UK/EU band on yor CB is not legal in this country.Your CB set will receive & transmit frequency modulate a radio frequency on the 11 metre band ie FM .There are CB equipment that will transmit a AM carrier wave on the same frequency or close to it on the 11 metre band that will interfere with the FM signals being received or transmitted. Before CB was legal in this country there was loads of AM sets being used over here in the UK some of it is still about truckers a favorite of it still use AM& continental operators.

But what he needs to know more: is Ireland using AM or FM as he is in Ireland?
If AM he isn't going to be talking to many people!
