Ok, got the quote from them, deciphered the German, paid the ammount via the international payment (£9.50 to do it), Emailed them to let them know what I have done, and after 5 days still not heard back from them?

"after 5 days still not heard back from them?"
You may not even hear from them.
The parts will just turn up.
They are a trustworthy bunch so don't be concerned.
I'm waiting for big mirror glass x2 from them at this moment.

Re: Obtaining obsolete parts from Germany
Good news.
My mirrors turned up today as well.
Quite surprisingly they are both original glasses in original boxes from 1986, I thought they were re-manufacturing them.
Got a snazzy Original Classic Parts carrier bag as well (am I a sad old git or what?).

Re: Obtaining obsolete parts from Germany
unfortunately the part i'm after isn't listed in the part finder, but it is on vagcat. The part is 251711173c.
Vagcat says they are 10.3 euro but not where i can get them from.
http://www.vagcat.com/epc/search/?pn=251711173C" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
has anyone got any ideas where i can get these?
Cheers
Mike

Selector guides. They're not as crucial as you might think. You can actually drive without them even there believe it or not. Take your old ones out and have them built up with ally weld and refit them - quicker in the long run. To my knowledge they are obsolete now and any S/H ones will look the same.

Re: Obtaining obsolete parts from Germany
if been driving with dodgy ones in for about 6 months, it's a bit of a pain, sometimes takes a while to get into gear, reverse is the worst. Any ideas where i could get the old ones built up?

Re: Obtaining obsolete parts from Germany
You just need an engineering place that can weld aluminium - or even a local welder. Ask around.

Will need grinding to shape after but you could do that in a vice with an angle grinder or similar set up.
