steve has it right.
et 23 has been used in the past. i try to keep to et 30 where posible.

in general t3's tend to look better with wider rear wheels.
you get a more even stance and being rear wheel drive (2wd of course) a bit more traction on the back end is never normaly a problem, more often a bonus.

7x17 / 7.5x17 fronts
8x17 / 8.5x17 rears
is a good combination

limits wise..
8j in a 17" on the front (above 8 is hard to work because of the et/offset requirmemts)
8.5 in an 18" on the front can be done depending on offset But i tend to stick to 8" wide.

9.0/9.5 x 17"/18" can be done on the back of a caravelle/panel van/westy etc. but in a 9.5 your pushing it sliding door clearance wise.

weight wise tyres make as big a difference as wheel makes/quality

225 50 17 is spot on for the front. can be found in 98 load rating too.
could also be used on the rear too if using the same size rim all round.

255 45 17 is a good size for rear wheels 8.0/8.5 wide.
also can be found in a 98 load rating.

im not saying you need a 98 load rating but where posible i try to keep to 94 or above.
WHY T3's.... because they are just so adictive, and having one just aint enough

probably because the audi alloys centre bores are too small

can I ask if everyone else agrees with this? would a 17x7.5 (ET37) be OK on the front?

anyone have experience of this sort of setup? my slight concern is that the table here http://www.brick-yard.co.uk/forum/wheel ... 13832.html seems to say the front one may be a problem - is 7.5 a bit wide or has anyone else used it?

many thanks. all your advice is helping me get closer to a final decision!

I've got 16" merc alloys on that are 7.5j and ET42

I have 10mm spacers on the front and 5mm on the back. I still get a slight rubbing on the inside of the tyre, from the control arm, on full lock in car parks. Nothing an angle grinder won't fix

You have to get the centres machined out to fit over the centre cap.

that slightly worries me as I'm looking at 17" wheels - this might mean it's even tighter possibly?
