tyre weld

Post by Westy End »

hi.

does anyone carry this stuff instead of a spare wheel? would be great to hear from anyone who has used it. if it is a goer then i could put all my tools in a box and sick them where the spare is currently.

i think i would only leave the spare at home if loads of peeps had good things to say about tyre weld.... unlikely i know. would be nice to have all that room outside of the van for the tools though. sigh.

Have used it a couple of time and its really only a get you home solution, as has been said if the hole is too big it wont work.

I had a screw in my motorbikes rear tire, took the screw out and ended up using 2 cans of the stuff before the hole sealed.

I would carry a spare.

I only carry a can of tyre weld to be able to get me out of trouble where a wheel change would be difficult/dangerous (on the hard shoulder/dark country lane etc for instance....)

A lot of new cars only have a can and a small compressor, but then they are running new tyres too... still wont repair a slit in the tyre or a dented rim.... sone purely on cost reasons... £25 a car... X ????? cars.... = big bonus for the accountant that suggested it...

The blokes at work who drive these cars with no spare are not happy. How embarrasing having to tell the nice AA man that the tyreweld did not work and you havn,t got a spare. Always carry a spare.

Anothe negative comment but tyre weld is a bugger to clean off once a new tyre is being fitted!
