Will these alloys fit???

Post by dirtyroger »

F O R D alloy wheels

size: PCD 5x112 6Jx15 ET 38

CENTRE BORE IS 58MM

The seller says it will need the fronts opening out to clear the grease cap on a T25 :? what does this mean and how can it be done?

Thanks again :ok

As your man says the centres will need boring out to at least 66mm to ensure the rim fits snugy against the front hubs,,,,,,,,ET=38 is reasonable but you will have to check for any fouling issues on both the front and rear, and if it is running too close a 10mm spacers fitted to bring the wheels out a tad.

It may also be an idea to use longer wheel studs and the right nuts/bolts with the correct seat/collar as there are a couple to go at...

I ground my wheels out myself using a grinding stone on a drill...

Took me a few hours but not really difficult...

Longer studs are a must tho!

This sounds like more my kinda thing, but Is this way safe? does it not compromise the quality of the alloy?

And

How do you fit a grinding stone to a drill? :?

how heavy is your van? how fast are you going to be driving it? fancy driving it with a wheel falling apart at speed?

Doesn't sound like something that you should try yourself from that question..

With reference to the weight ratings mentioned by ricicles, I've been reading up on these and the Scorpios weighed in at 1388kg, which is only 7kilos over the original weight quoted for the lightest variant of a T25 leaving the factory, (but who runs them like that?) The heaviest original T25s are quoted at 1530 kg, but you really need to know the weight of your particular van I think, depending on interior fitment etc it could be a lot higher.
The max GVW of the Scorpio was 2235kg so I tend to read that as the most you can safely run on these rims, is this a safe guideline?
What a long strange trip it's been

ricicles has a point, as a fully laden camper is in excess of 2.3 tonnes (mine is)
Though I have never heard of a modified wheel disintegrating on a van.
8mm of material is not going to jeopardise the wheels structural integrity to a dangerous point.
My friend has fitted these rims to his van 4 years ago with the same modification.

you must make sure the new nuts are tapered or radiused to suit the nut seat on the rim and that the stud holes are large enough to recieve the studs.

Yeah maybe i shouldnt be taking on the re-boreing job myself :?

I've got what i would consider a lite van and i rarely go over 60 (MPG?!?), but i think i'll be getting it done professionally.

When i get them/if i get them i'll make sure to get em fixed right.

Kev is your friend a 80-90 member?

thanks again

oh and Is it worth the bling, phuck yeah! 8)
