tyre width - can someone please explain...

Post by ringo »

Dudes,

Im looking at tyres - currently im riding on 165/65/R15's

Im not very happy with the load rating of these.

I want to get some reinforced (maybe 8 ply ?) tyres - but im not sure if i can get them for that size.

If i up my tyre width to say 170, will they fit on my alloys ? How can i tell ?

Thanks

Ringo

You need 195/70/15C tyres.

185 R14C are the stock tyres the C stands for commercial load rating (ie van)
theres a stack here
http://wiki.club8090.co.uk/index.php/Ma ... _Syncro.29

and heres a website explaining all the numbers
http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_bible.html

http://www.vanagon.com/info/tires/codes.html

your 165/65/15 sound low profile and certainly skinny! if you want to use your existing alooys youo will need a 15 inch dia tyre and 185 or 195 width
