anyone know where i can get the little vw hub caps (about 50mm diameter) that cover just the main hub nut in an alloy wheel please? I got one from a steam engine rally, need 3 more!

If you mean the small black plastic centre caps as used on the GT Beetle & the 1303S back in the 70s, I can only suggest that you contact companies who supply parts/trim etc for Beetles. 
I have looked in an old copy of the BigBoysToys catalogue but they only sell replacement centre caps for various brands of alloy wheels.
