New Camper Curtains

Post by squarepants »

hi folks,

My Trident high-top has some "sun battled" curtains. Look ropey now, notably when on full view. Lots of people on the web offer the service. Any hints on who to go to or who to avoid?
Neither me or my better half use a sewing machine so that's out. What about losing the curtains altogether for insulation mats? Is that a realistic option? Would appreciate any pointers. :?

New Camper Curtains

Post by Bowton Lad »

During the late spring & through the summer months there is a company from Burscough, Lancashire who regularly have camper van curtains on ebay.

Their T25 curtains usually come in a set of nine ie. 2x front cab, 4x rear side, 1x rear hatch & 2x high top. also 9x tie-backs & 2x cushions with matching covers.

They normally have a 'Buy It Now' price & a 'Make An Offer' facility. The advertised price was iirc £59.99 so I offered £51.00 (+ £9.99 p&p) & I got them at that price. Not bad at £60.99 all in. The curtains are lined & are sprayed with a fire retardent (Very Important!!!) & come with a header tape attached (again fire retardent).

The seller is J.Browns Textiles & at the time I bought my curtains they had 100% positive feedback. :D

We just got a set made up by Sarah at vwcampercurtains.co.uk

She did a great job, sent us material samples before we committed, made them fullt lined (can do blackout linings too), shorter for over the worktop, all the bits and trimmings, tabs poppers etc. About £150.

IF I could work the photo thingumy I'd put up a shot of them. Awwww, don't they look lovely?[/url]

I use both silver screens and curtains.. Silverscreens were self made (thermal wrap from B&Q) and they do make a massive difference in winter and lovely and cool in summer, the curtains just make it more cosy for us girls xx

I can't believe the price companies charge for curtains for campers   Luckily ours were new when we got the van.

I have just taken ours out to give them a clean, what an absolute doddle to make. I checked the price of ours from where they were originally bought....£140 quid  not lined because of double sided pattern and even now I have re done the back one so it doesn't hang down when you open the back door.

I was thinking of buying a new sewing machine, I definately will now, I may offer my services once I have it. Not many overheads

We got some thermal mats as well but we never use them, just something else to get out and put away everyday ( probably just being lazy  ) plus not having much space to keep them in the day, at least curtains are in situ all the time.
