towbar fitting to westfalia california

Post by peel567 »

I'd like to get a towbar fitted to our van. Hightop Westfalia California 1991. 1.6TD.

We live in Northumberland.

Can anybody offer any tips? Generally about what type to have fitted, and particularly where to have this done in the NE? How much should this cost?

thanks, dave

Ideally you want a westy swan neck towbar, you can pick them up second hand, they come up for sale here or ebay regularly
They bolt into the chassis rails in place of the bumper irons
metal bumpers need a cut with a hole saw and a hacksaw as pics show
if you have big bumpers you need the extra brackets on the top not sure if you need to cut the bumper but probably

electrics are the same whatever towbar you get
