Beds in Hightop Van

Post by bestonestaken »

I would be very grateful for any pictures, ideas showing how to turn my rear high top compartment (which someone blocked up into a storage cupboard) back into beds for my two kids (8 and 4). Hoping for tips on how to have a pull-out shelf to make it bigger, but easy to close over to store things during transit.

This is the view towards the rear of my hi-top. The white frontage - with six pips - slides out to give additional support to the bunk mattress. The mattress is stored one piece on top of the other during travelling. Items can be stored up there, some people use a net guard to contain items.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for your picture. Looks pretty neat. Did you make the sliding tray yourself, or can you buy them? This is mine after I pulled the cupboard frontage off.

It may have been storage from the outset, not blocked up, not all high tops made were for sleeping in

I'm sorry to say, no I didn't make this myself, it was part of the original conversion. The bed base slides on the white rails that can be seen on both sides. Made from 18mm plywood, strong enough for an adult no problem!

Your roof line does look as said above, as there is no provision for side rails.
