suitable tap for sink?

Post by sewhite1982 »

Hi

Can someone tell me what is a suitable tap for my sink on my 1986 autosleeper? The system didnt work when I bought the van so I fitted a new pump (30psi shurflo 12 v pump) which is turned on when needed in usual way. The previous tap was either faulty or wasnt correct type as when I turned the pump on it leaked water badly. Problem is the ones which seem to be suitable are exactly the same type eg:

Most taps say not suitable for pressurised system. Does this mean my system even tho pump can be turned off?? I am not technically minded Im afraid!

Can someone help???

Thanks, simon

Can't see why that tap shouldn't work. It has the inbuilt micro switch to turn the pump off. Maybe your old one was faulty?

I recently replaced my Comet Nova tap as the micro switch had packed up. Its available with or without microswitch iirc. Mine has one which switches on a basic submersible Whale pump... Easily fitted too.

Pressurized system is where the pump maintains a constant pressure in the pipework whether there is a tap open or not. Silly idea as if you have a leak you can come back to a wet van if it is left for a long while! It is used on bigger motorhomes more to save on running multiple wires to each tap, shower, toilet etc.

Thanks for your replies. It seems my previous tap was probably knackered so I will get on and buy another one.
