Is anyone using a memory foam mattress in their vans and if so are they any good and have you any recommendations ?

Using one from Dunelm in our T4, its lovely and comfy and toasty in the cold too.

It is comfy, I got thick memory foam. The only problem for me is that the kids seats gradually tilt forwards or sideways so the kids are very uncomfortable unless I prop the seats up.

I bought a 2" topper mattress from flebay. It fits into a single duvet cover so needs no extra sheets etc. fits the folded down R & R bed a treat and makes a huge difference. When not in use rolls up and stored in the upper bunk.
I have removed it from the van for the winter and am using it on the bed in the spare bedroom, very, very comfy.

I would happily buy and use this again if necessary, fully recommend to any one.

I never liked the off gassing of chemicals these are supposed to have. latex if you can afford it is better IMHO but then I went for a natural fibre mattress at home, and I recon that my van foam has offed it's gas a long time ago.

When you buy it, unroll it and leave it open for a few days before using it, it gets rid of the nasty chemical smells.

Having suffered from back ache on and off my life a foam mattress definitely helped. Maybe a new conventuonal mattress might have done the same thing though. If its good enough for Astronauts to lie on when the forces of acceleration are working on the body then i figured its good enough for me. Its a double in the home not in the van where the cushions don't suit my back. Have a roll of ordinary 4" thick foam there.

We bought one from Dunelm back in the summer, so was able to air it outside before using. it does add slightly to our comfort levels, but the most notable thing is, it seems to retain our body heat thus making our wee van more cosy of an evening. one drawback is, it tends to slide down the vans mattress/seat so have to use a clothes peg to hold it in position.
So good we went back and bought one for our house.

We bought a 2" topper from Ebay (£40 ish) that we cut down to suit the Devon bed, then cut in half across the van, put it in a modified old duvet case so it can be folded flat and is stored on top of the engine bay/Devon box behind the seats.
We found the original Devon seat too hard as a matress, with the topper it is great

I got a 2" memory foam mattress to go on the bed cushions in September. It's amazing the difference its made on top of the bed cushions everyone should get one IMO.

Would this mattress be suitable to use in the pop top as I don't have one at present, or do I need to get something thicker.
