Re: cargo net?
I'd be interested in this too. Haven't had any ideas myself so don't have anything up top whilst driving for fear of it falling down!

Re: cargo net?
15 minutes to make one - where is your spirit of get up and go. (OK, it may take you a little longer.)
I have been making and repairing nets since I was 5 years old - taught by my grandfather, it is not difficult. I was making crinnies for whelk pots for him as I was quicker at it!
I should think that there will be a video on this new fangled internet thing somewhere - try the u-bend thingummy or is it utube?

Re: cargo net?
Only ever used cargo net to make a "cradle" for my duvets, pillows, etc. Was fitted to ceiling from C pillar to D pillar and works great.
Saw an accident not long ago which involved a for mondeo packed full of ikea stuff which flew out of the windscreen on impact. So I'd say fit one every one you can If you need to hit the brake hard in our vans, lots of stuff will fly. Fortunately I've never had to found out how much (touch wood...)

Re: cargo net?
Forget the net..A nice piece of wood fitted with sliding bolts will do the job.

If you make them out of elastic bungee they're even better.
They used to be available in most motorbike shops.

There ain't half some cack-handed ways of braiding there! You use your fingers for making the size of mesh that you want, they all seem to need a wooden gauge to get the size correct. I can make from shrimp netting up to 6 inch cod net mesh with just the fingers, 12 inch ray netting can still be done. They slow down the whole process by using the wood to form the mesh.
