Hi Lefty,

I have seen those and they look OK and did think about one of those especially if we could share one between the three vans and use the Westy under slung gas tank BBQ point. I decide on the pain in the a*** ay I am going now due to the added bonus of having back up having and not having to carry something else so large.

Yep its a couple of weeks old and I nabbed it out of the Westy this morning. Its one of my four leisure batteries

If it decides to run again for a bit tomorrow I will put the voltage meter on the pump to make sure I am getting a pulse, give the fuel pump an extra - and if it doesn't work after that its f**ked  The bloke I bought it from has been quite helpful to be fair to him but I cant be risking a temperamental back up heater as it would be counter productive.

I'd fire it up with the volt meter across the battery , that will rule the voltage drop out
pump is easy , just put - onto one terminal and tap + on the other should pump/push the diesel out, remember short amount of line at the fuel side ,then the pump, so thats fuel--pump---------------heater unit , if you understand what I'm on about.
then the glow plug and the filter basket

I think I follow what you are doing. Is this going to be an instant hot water heater or will this require a storage tank?

There's another similar available that comes with it's own water pump included:

What are you going to do about a shower curtain/ enclosure?

A couple of shower curtains clipped around the tail gate or a loose fitting pair of swimming shorts. The shorts work best especially if its a little windy.

That's just what I thought - it's on my watch list anyway. Now I just need to find the money for it from somewhere.

I am liking that a lot :ok

as said, tailgate up, canvas hanging down, peg canvas so it don't blow about and get under the shower from inside the van, perfect!

Okay, I have worked it out.

The more I read on the net the more this sounds like a cracking idea. I presume you have seen the Helton system?

Is there any info on how long it will take the Eber to produce hot water from start up?

I'm actually quite excited! :ok

Well if we didnt talk about stuff like this with each other who else in the world would listen to us

Back to the Ebber... I woke up this morning hoping it would re set itself or something and it hasn't. Some fault codes must need clearing and I havnt got the diagnostic tool for this heater so I am going to see if the seller has or I will have to work something out with them and send it to Eberspacher in Ringwood to tell me what has gone and needs replacing. Its been wired in right as I have checked, double and triple before I fired it up and died and I am sick of looking at it. I fitted a petrol coolant heater before no worries and its pretty much the same thing.

I wanted it to work and be running before I fitted the heat exchanger for the shower and hot water. I have got to say its not going to cost a lot to make bit I needed the heater running on the bench to see just how long I need to make the exchanger. I will jump the gun slightly and make a trial exchanger to see if it works while I sort this ebber issue out.

Here is how I am going to make the heat exchanger for the hot water, only out of 15mm and 22mm pipe, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6btl1oYi ... re=mh_lolz" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Very cool. Where are you going to put the exchanger and hot water tank?
