What to make interior from?

Post by Marshmallow »

Hi

So as the title suggests we are after ideas as to what to make a new interior from, with the help from my dad who is a keen woodworker we are hoping to redesign and fit a new interior using the current one as a rough template. Just wondering what wood people have used to make the carcus from and then the worktop. Any other advice would be much appreciated.

Thank you

I think most people use good quality veneered ply (birch?) or Vohringer board (what Westy used).

Both are quite expensive.

Personally I wouldn't use cheaper materials such as MDF or chipboard as they are heavy and soak up moisture like sponges

I've been rebuilding mine with lightweight 12mm marine gaboon ply - then sealed, painted and lacquerd it. It's a hell of a job but has given me the look I wanted. Not cheap like MDF or chipboard but not as expensive as Vohringer.

Hi there, I build interiors and I use a very lightweight ply virtually identicle to the core of vohringer, it only weighs 20.5 kg as opposed to at least 35kg of regular ply, bearing in mind a full refit uses 5+ sheets thats 75kg extra you would be carrying around. All my units are laminated in egger 0.8mm laminate as well, if I can be of help message me, Darren.
