can anybody tell me what this is? photo!

Post by charlie brown syndrome »

hi guys/gals
can anybody tell me what this is? its just left of the steering column casing on my van,
it turns and clicks on (light comes on) and then you can hear a ticking (like a timer which stops after a bit)
i havent seen one before although ive had quite a few of these vans now,
it does have a black box on the back with what looks like a multi plug on it, well theres definately power of some sort going to it because it lights up when turned on
it doesnt seem to make any difference to the running of the van,

any help appreciated

Its for the auxillary heater which is a factory fit petrol or diesel ebersphacher that is installed under the van .It is timer switch controller to start the heat cycle on then off.

bloomin hell,
ive just had a quick look under the van, its got a heat shield thing behind the fuel tank and i can see what looks like an exhaust system underneath (no-where near the real exhaust system before anyone starts  )
kind of like a tailpipe with a grill on it,
then ive lifted the rock n roll and theres a vent/grill, ive had the van running and switched the switch on, and the grill thing under the seat started blowing but it didn't get warm/hot
my normal fan switch hasn't been working properly but does come on occasionally, could this be anythin to do with the eberspacher?
sorry for the questions but i'm not too clued up on these onboard heater things, ive never had/seen one before
thanks in advance
