inhave a 2 way , can i remove the 12v element and fit a 240 in its place as i have little need od the former and use gas when out and about,
next,, anyone have a 240v element going cheap-------ish

Wiring the 240V element up would make the fridge cool down - try to match the watts with that of the existing 12V one. You wan't the right shape as well - some are L shaped and they won't be much good if your fridge takes straight ones.

The bit to think about is will you have any means of controlling the temp and is this important?

Pretty sure my 3 way Westy one does not use a thermostat for the 12V but there is a combined one for 240V and gas. I doubt it will do too much harm running without a stat as long as the wattage of the element not too high. Basing that on the thinking that I could be driving for miles on end with a 12V element constantly on so what difference does it make if I put in 85W at 12V or 85W at 240V.

If you have a thermostat already in your 12V circuit have a peek at it to see if it is rated for 240V. If so just wire this in series with the live. Obviously make sure your terminals insulated etc and hopefully the 240V supply protected with RCD trip.

Sorry can't help with a spare element though.

Ah forgot the stat aspect,won't bother or will look out for a 3 way
