Hazard Warning Flasher Problem

Post by tee3peeo »

Hazard Warning Flasher Problem
My hazard warning flasher has stopped working - the green light comes on and stays on. My indicators do work however in all positions. When the hazard switch is turned on then off I can hear the relay go clunk under the dashboard, so something is happening - just no flashing at the lights. I replaced the switch and exactly the same. Any help/pointers very gratefully received

Have you checked the fuse for the hazards (it is a different fuse to turn indicators)?

Hi Midlife crisis,
my van has the early small fuse-box and it's fuse 11 I think which seems to be ok - there's power getting to the switch - its coming on a black/blue cable - it's just not doing anything...

OK I just checked out the Bentley manual for 1985. There are a number of differences for the US spec vans but hopefully enough is the same. Fuse 11 is the positive feed for the indicators when the emergency is in the off position. However when the emergency is in the on position, fuse 9 (16 amp) supplies the hazards with power. Goes to the switch on a red white wire.

Hi HacksawBob
thanks for your Bentley research - I set up a new cable between 12v supply and the hazard switch - worked first time

cheers
