Y Plate 1.9 with engine fire. Had metal water pipe on top of engine between carb an dizzy.
Just at the point of connecting electrics up in engine bay ( massive thnks to Mick@VWNW breakers ).
Don't do WBXs so its not second nature and just want a few pointers.especially as had no old loom to match up
Yellow/red to sender on/near water pump.
Thick red goes to manifold heater directly underneath carb.
These two were easiest.
There is a chain/series of black male that go to the three black females on carb. Ok with that.
Only appear to have one oil pressure sensor, is that right on early ones? Brown (maybe a trace?) between number 3 and 4. Is there a second near pulleys or do early ones not have one?
What wires go to the two pin sender on the T piece on the metal pipe?
Have a couple of wires left over and don't want to guess
The previously mentioned three black connections? The fuel stop solenoid has what looks like a factory fitted 'jumper' coming out of it that looks long enough to reach the two pin sender.
There is a black/blue trace coming from loom that looks like it might go to two pin sender.
Finally, the loom I have now doesn't have an earth in it to connect to the block. Is the block usually earthed to the earthing point just next to coil or elsewhere?
Cheers chaps

Re: T3 1.9 engine bayearly wiring help please!
Only one oil pressure switch on early van yes , between pushrod tubes, connects to blue black in loom but brown over the engine.
switch on the coolant pipe top of engine is the manufold heater relay switch ( relay in black box) one side is black ignition 12v the other side is lilac black
on my late van earth on the head by the dizzy goes to the ignition module
black wires are ignition pos, they should connect to the manufold heater switch as said, bypass air valve (top central of carb) and maybe the autochoke (it is on late vans)
The carb heater circuit (big red wire) feeds the part load duct heater, (lower central connection on carb) and the manufold heater, possibly the autochoke on an early van not sure
bit of a crappy pic stolen but may help
cheers
