Re: vw t25 automatic reversing light switch
Its on the gear lever.
The contact block also houses the starter inhibit switch.

Re: vw t25 automatic reversing light switch
Inside the van, under the plastic cover that the gear lever sticks through.
There is a copper contact on the stick itself and a plastic block with 6(i think) contacts fixed to the gear lever mounting.
4 of the blocks contacts allow the starter motor to run. (When the van is in Neutral or Park)
2 of the block contacts handle the reversing lights.

I dont know if the contact block is available, but have a look at yours, it probably just needs cleaning up.

Re: vw t25 automatic reversing light switch
No. it wont make the van cut out.
The switch can stop the starter motor turning when in Park or Neutral.
What are the symptoms of cutting out?
Gradual loss of power?
Juddering?
Sudden engine stop?
Back to the reversing lights....
Have you tried shorting the wires to the switch?
