sorry - found it in the wiki

doesn't give specifics with cable sizes, so I shall have a good ganders at what is there.

I have that bolt post in the black box affair that Covkid writes of in the wiki...good to know it can go straight to starter

Going to get this sluggish starting sorted once and for all!!

Haynes Manual says 35mm2 c.s.a. Tri-rated I'd imagine but Martin (California Dreamin') will probably know for sure

Ebay etc

Thanks Big Herb!

so - I can see the battery symbol first left 70mm on the positive, 25 mm on the negative.

but I don't understand what the next two symbols are  I'm going to guess the middle one is the starter motor as it has 70 mm going to it too....then a 10 mm wire to the alternator???

Am I close....??

thanks

Surely that's 70 Amp, not 70mm?

The cable capacity should be close to the CCA of a battery which is 380A+. Particularly as the cable length is long for a starter cable.

ok...can you explain a bit more about the 70 bit??? Is that 70mm2?

see here...http://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk/p ... tegory/124" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

the bottom one....ok not cheap....but cheaper than repeated breakdowns. But only 60mm2??

I will take some pics of what is there

Thanks for the help again folks.

Hmm, Blue watercooled petrol Haynes Manual shows 35mm for "1.9 litre carburettor engines" page 12.22 and 70mm for "typical battery, starter and alternator" page 12.25.
Wonder why the DG is smaller?

Cheaper to buy welding cable http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Copper-Weldin ... 27d0b2f1b5
£8 per metre and free delivery. Most probably get it cheaper just the first I came to without looking hard.

I just beefed up the lot. You do need a big soldering iron or small blowtotch though.

Ok this is the starter cable for my caravelle as you can see it is pretty darn thick lol....will go and see what the reluctant starter has in a minute.

Thanks to those who have taken the time to help and provide links. I want to get it to fire on the turn of the key....which it has never done really.
