LED wiring

Post by mr.mono7 »

Morning all,

Bought some LED lights from Ikea for the van and just wondering how you connect them all up to run off one feed?

I've got 2 down lighters for the back of the van and one strip light for the 'living' area.

Also, I'm gonna use 1.5mm wire, what size fuse should I use?

Thanks

Fuse size depends on the wattage of the LEDs

Power / Voltage = Current

e.g. 15w / 12v = 1.25A (this would be the load - fuse size would need to be the next appropriate size upwards)

1.5mm^2 cable would most likely be adequate for a few LEDs as they're only low wattage

The LEDs would need to be wired in parallel (otherwise if wired in series... the more LEDs you have, the dimmer they become, because they would receive a lower voltage)

Also, if they are from Ikea, they probably came with a transformer? (which may not have a 12v output). Or are they specific 12v LEDs?

If they aren't 12v LEDs, you may need to use a resistor...

Hope this helps :ok
