Leisure Battery fitting Autosleeper Trooper

Post by Daisy2012 »

I have a 1987 T25 Autosleeper Trooper. I bought a leisure battery that is currently sitting under the passenger seat not wired in. Simple question is how is it wired in? There are already some wires ready by looks of things for connection (see photo). I've read a little about split charge relays and looked at some wiring diagrams but I'm not that technical so if its complicated I might take it to a garage . If however its just a case of fitting the wires to the battery terminals then I can manage it!. Not sure what if anything is already fitted by autosleeper . Any advice would be much appreciated

Do the other end of those wires go to the main battery area?

there is a wiring diagram for this very subject in the club wiki
Here it is..

ignore the red circuitry on the aux batt, unless you have a MC 2000 control panel.

The wires seem to go to the front of the passenger seat and under the carpet , the dont seem to go to the main battery. Also I found that diagram but not sure I can read it .Think I need to take it to a garage to do it as unsure what goes where. wires are very thin so can't see how they fit on leisure battery anyway. Hoped someone had already wired one up

yes they are thin because your appliances do not require high amperage.
The fridge 12v runs from the control panel and there is a little relay in there to do that.
The only thick wire is from the split relay, which charges the leisure batt from the Alternator.
In the passenger compartment batt box, there should be ..
1 thick red wire
1 green or red thinner wire (fused) this is the leisure electrics.
1 thick earth to the van body

This is how Autosleeper wired it...and this is all I have
I have the same camper as you.

perhaps you have a better picture of the wires in the compartment?

Or tell us where you are and maybe a local to you member could come and show you how to connect it up.

A garage may either not do it right, and/or charge quite a lot of dosh

Simon, it's simply not possible by looking at a picture of some wires to determine where they go to and if they are wired up correctly at the other end. You / we mustn't guess with things like this or you could end up with an electrical fire.

I would start a post with the title "Electrical help needed in S.E. Surrey" and I bet someone will pop along and show you what's what on your leisure battery wiring.

I would find out where that red wire goes.
Does it go to the starter battery?
Does the green and yellow go to the starter battery box?
