Earthing to chassis (Daft question)

Post by JonB »

Just putting a leisure battery under the RnR bed and needing to earth the battery (and a few auxiliaries).

Whats the best way;
Self tapper and a big washer into the chassis.
Bolt to the same location the bed attaches to the van.
Bolt to the RnR frame which in turn is bolted to the chassis.

Your leisure battery deserves a GOOD earth.
So: A separate 6mm post (drill a hole, scrape around the hole to bare metal, put a 6mm bolt through that hole from the back and fasten using a washer and nut) now this can be used as a perfect earthing point (paint once afterwards to protect from corrosion.)
Remember that the Leisure battery could draw 30 amps plus on initial start so a self taping screw or fixing to a hinge isn't good enough.
