Post by Seamus »

Does anyone know if the seats for the T4 can fit straight into our T25s, do they require modifying or is it a non starter of an idea?

They fit but you have to narrow the seat runners. There's a 'how to' thread on the Samba I think

Looks like an easy mod to the rails, just using a cutting wheel in an angle grinder to shave the steps off the rails. Even looks like they unbolt from the seats to let you do it without risking getting the seats dirty. I expect any local engineering company would do it for beer money.

Looks like it could be a good change for some.

Oh I see... I read that wrong, I thought the red lines in the diagram were what needed to be added to the T4 runners, very interesting, I think I could manage a mod like that... (he says  )

Thanks for the photo shots James, I'm just trying to decide on re-doing or swapping our seats, so this helps to think through the issues. Cheers,

i know some early t4 seats use t25 bases and you can swap the runners over so the seats fit straight on .

i know , i have done it!

The base is very much like a t3 item but welded on side mountings for the back rest are different..

i had a t3 one and a 1992 t4 one side by side yesturday.
the early t4 ones do use the exact same lever that locks into the seat runner slots though.

so as per the link just remove the lower lip parts on the t4 seat runners.
WHY T3's.... because they are just so adictive, and having one just aint enough
